It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 30000 that came out to
Rota Fortuna .
Rainer Knapp was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Luis Eiriz and
Moritz Brauer.
Abadin had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
The following players took the field: Marías - Uzbertiz, Fuentes Albar - Osorez, Vallber, Platas, Ibarra, Sánchez - Marichalar, Dacón, Vedeja.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Kalea.
Lineup: Nervión - Julià, Ristilä - Spaggiari, Martel, Notarnicola, Díaz Estévanez, Montes - Corbera, Valbuena, Zárraga.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 5 minutes into the match, and
S. Zárraga wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
The crowd was on its feet 16 minutes into the match, as Abadin's
Z. Dacón found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
Z. Dacón scored for Abadin putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 18 minutes.
Abadin solidified their lead at the 24 minute mark, as
R. Fuentes Albar dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 1.
Kalea's
R. Notarnicola placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but
M. Valbuena couldn't finish.
With 26 minutes played, Kalea's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
J. Ristilä he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 2.
3 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Kalea, with 51 percent of the ball.
The intense heat forced
M. Sánchez into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Abadin's
Z. Dacón increasing the lead to 4 - 2.
This third goal completed a hattrick for
Z. Dacón.
63 minutes in, Kalea's
P. Díaz Estévanez received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Abadin increased the lead as
O. Vallber struck to make the score 5 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
The home team's fans were upset when, after 72 minutes, the visiting
R. Notarnicola broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 5 - 3 was the score.
Abadin managed to extend their lead to 6 - 3 when
R. Ibarra cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Abadin lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
With 79 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Kalea showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 6 - 4 when
J. Montes got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
K. Uzbertiz got himself booked. The manager of Abadin was not happy.
Kalea claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
The most dominating Abadin player was without a doubt
C. Marichalar.
E. Osorez was a disappointment, however.
Kalea's best player was
S. Zárraga.
J. Ristilä turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 6 - 4.
