Genomi 1 - 0 ELENA (383025982)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and JAM Arena saw a crowd turnout of 24590. Leonard Hinteregger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Enrique Zuluaga and Lasse Tomasson. Genomi decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Varas - Colombo, Scornaienchi, Fayas - Engelhard, Caldirola, Karnstedt, Praest, Povill - Kolm, Mörkö.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for ELENA. The following players took the field: Chauque - Fransen, Grześ, Koemann - Štetić, Máša, Peiker, Duva, Sipos - Payá, Cojocaru.

The strategy for ELENA was to use their ability to press. R. Duva was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by I. Cojocaru, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. ELENA's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. Down the middle came Ó. Payá, making a fantastic play that nearly had ELENA take the lead after 33 minutes, but J. Varas preserved the tie. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, J. Povill got himself booked. The manager of Genomi was not happy. Making his way up the middle 42 minutes into the match, B. Karnstedt almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert M. Chauque blocked it to keep the score level. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Genomi, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

Many thought F. Caldirola ought to have been awarded a penalty 48 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around M. Chauque after a determined run through the middle. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 49 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from P. Kolm, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. After 60 minutes, ELENA switched R. Peiker with A. das Neves, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave H. Fransen from ELENA a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 66 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The player down was T. Mörkö. The Genomi bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. ELENA's A. das Neves left the field after 75 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Sapuła. Genomi claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Genomi's best player was P. Kolm. G. Scornaienchi on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating ELENA player was without a doubt I. Cojocaru. J. Sapuła turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
