The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 11650 had shown up at Fumadero Estadium for the match. Mestre's lack of experience almost gave Verneda a goal after 20 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. Some great play up the middle by Verneda led to a chance for M. Ljungen to score after 35 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Verneda took the lead 39 minutes in, as M. Brüggemann broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Verneda's M. Brüggemann saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 41 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave T. Lopes from Verneda a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 42 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Verneda had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

With 50 minutes played, the Power coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. D. Ordóñez came on, M. Košan had to leave the fray. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Power's F. Carrillo was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. J. Gotrano was given a chance to change things around. Verneda managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when C. Gubau cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Verneda's M. Ljungen swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The Verneda players could smell victory in the air. C. Gubau wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for K. Vanheers after 76 minutes. Verneda claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Verneda's best player was M. Ljungen. However, K. Vanheers made a disastrous appearance. Power's top performer was clearly J. Gotrano. V. Boïgues on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 0.
