Dark skies made the crowd of 15971 at
Ultraheroi's Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Jan Iversen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
André Cardoso and
Ryan Torry.
People from all over
Barcelona had joined up for the derby.
Ultraheroi tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Urrue - Tomac, Lanuza Conesa, Fernández Castrillón, 平荣 (Pingrong) , Folguera - Arrowsmith, Crnogorac, Manley - Grzelakowski, Mier y Teherán.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Matader.
They fielded: Kalkitsas - Bride, Guerrero, Overste, Buonfini - Swoboda, Danielsson, Aşina, Laveau - Segovia, Frandsen.
Ultraheroi were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Matader mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
Some great play up the middle by Ultraheroi led to a chance for
W. Grzelakowski to score after 14 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
S. Aşina from Matader a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 23 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
F. Velamines was called on to replace Matader's
S. Overste after 26 minutes following a nasty collision.
Ultraheroi were very close to putting themselves one up after 34 minutes as
R. Arrowsmith got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
The corner kick from
D. Mier y Teherán was powerfully met by the head of
F. Lanuza Conesa to make the score 1 - 0.
It was obvious that team Matader had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
B. Frandsen finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 43 minutes into the match.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ultraheroi, with 56 percent of the ball.
Ultraheroi fans held their breath as
D. Crnogorac scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 2 - 1!
Matader's
R. Guerrero had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 52 minutes having been played.
F. Subirachs was the replacement.
60 minutes into the game,
S. Aşina almost tied it all up for the visitors with an expertly placed free kick. Unfortunately for Matader, the home keeper made an incredible save.
Ultraheroi's
A. Tomac saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 73 minutes.
Coming from the right,
D. Mier y Teherán almost managed to score another goal for Ultraheroi, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
Ultraheroi had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
Most important Ultraheroi player was
F. Lanuza Conesa.
R. Urrue on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Matader's best player was
B. Frandsen.
However,
F. Subirachs made a disastrous appearance.
