previous 7/10 next 9/10  brunete 4 - 0 Manolo (383061174)

24591 spectators had come to memorial A.Iniesta Arena this cloudy day. Helmi Bianda was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kalle Cronwald and Sandro González. brunete had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Fernee - Horna, Ridgeley-Gunn, Scharka - Miksch, Wald, Laza, van der Harst, Sorgiovanni - Kössler, Sonko.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Manolo. They fielded: Félix - Osuna, Sørensen, Fandos - Blanco, Filomena López, Mujika, Ortueta, Nale - Ayneto, Zalakain.

brunete tried to focus their attacks down the middle. M. Sonko acted with superior experience when, 13 minutes into the match, he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal. 1 - 0 for brunete! T. Laza could have increased the lead after 17 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. A. Marreiro was called on to replace brunete's M. Sonko after 24 minutes following a nasty collision. The home side's C. Miksch curled a free kick home after 26 minutes, putting brunete ahead 2 - 0. brunete's B. Ridgeley-Gunn got himself booked for a foul. Unfortunately for Manolo, G. Nale was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. D. Salvans replaced him. 39 minutes into the game, Manolo's attack got through on the right, but L. Blanco couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Manolo had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in brunete's A. Marreiro increasing the lead to 3 - 0. brunete were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. 84 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as D. Horna broke through, making the score 4 - 0 for brunete. The players of brunete now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. E. Osuna could've grabbed a goal for Manolo 85 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation. O. Zalakain nearly reduced the lead 86 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by T. Fernee prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net. Possession in this half belonged to Manolo, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

brunete's top performer was clearly A. Marreiro. T. Fernee was a disappointment, however. L. Mujika performed admirably for Manolo. D. Salvans turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
