5 minutes into the game, Shadow seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. E. Schmidt had a good opportunity to give melilla the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. M. Mladenov could have put Shadow into the lead after 22 minutes, but the free kick went just wide. A. Comprido sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from M. Mladenov after 25 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 0. Shadow's M. Mladenov had an excellent opportunity after 28 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! 1 - 0 was the halftime score. melilla had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Shadow had passable organisation. The referee showed melilla's K. Schweigman the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, I. Selva of Shadow spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. I. Selva's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from L. Zemko's shot from the left 69 minutes into the match. 77 minutes in, Shadow appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. M. Saluces seemed highly inexperienced when, after 79 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed R. Timko to intercept and strike home the goal for melilla to make the score 1 - 1. 80 minutes into the game, V. Pihlaja was a hair's breadth away from giving melilla the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by I. Selva saved the home team that time. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when E. Schmidt was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 85 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! melilla enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.

Shadow's best player was M. Mladenov. M. Saluces on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important melilla player was R. Timko. R. Hill turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
