The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 12000 had shown up at
NUEVO BENICALAP STADIUM for the match.
Roger Solberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Claus Knap and
Günther Lipus.
All of
Comunitat Valenciana was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
RIPLYS started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Alemany - Cutuneguieta, Garis, Colmenero, Lliteras - Groni, Vallvé, Mendibeltzua, Porcar - Valderrama, Sbert.
Campanar had chosen a strategic 3-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Umartu - Van Sande, Suurkaulio, Junguito - Caramarin, Carrizo, Zarzalejos, Koekelkoren - Enderlin, Zuppiroli.
After 4 minutes, Campanar put themselves up 0 - 1, as
T. Enderlin finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
RIPLYS's
J. Porcar was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 13 minutes.
After 19 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
T. Enderlin a chance to increase the lead for Campanar, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 20 minutes, Campanar did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
M. Suurkaulio was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 3.
26 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as
D. Zuppiroli finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Campanar, with 83 percent of the ball.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Campanar goal after 47 minutes, making it 0 - 5.
D. Zuppiroli was noted down as the scorer.
Confident in their lead, Campanar's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
50 minutes into the game, Campanar had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
weak.
Campanar came close to extending their lead as
D. Caramarin delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 56 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
The Campanar free kick 65 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
A. Junguito, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 6!
With 69 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
R. Zarzalejos of Campanar to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 7.
M. Suurkaulio received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 78 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 8. The Campanar fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Campanar enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 85 percent of possession.
Most important RIPLYS player was
P. Valderrama.
J. Colmenero turned in a dismal performance, however.
Campanar's top performer was clearly
P. Carrizo.
However,
B. Umartu made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 8.
