25-08-2012 15.15
Clear skies welcomed the 31004 spectators who had made their way to
Ciudad de Zamora.
Mark Noormets was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Adalbert Naumann and
Dragan Smetana.
Berracos had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Chocopino - Cortés Valiente, Morales Guzman, Galdón, Soler - Guerra, Zuza, Pérez de Lama, Fabra - Cadalso, Cambeo.
Altair decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Ramírez - Alén, da Barqueira, Trani - Berezibar, Pinni, Velázquez, Prędkiewicz, Nora - Mora Aragon, Lacalle Moreno.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Berracos.
Altair were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
With 16 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as
O. Zuza flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.
After 20 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
M. Guerra might have resulted in another goal for Berracos. However,
J. Ramírez made a spectacular save.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Berracos scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
O. Zuza after 21 minutes.
Altair's
C. da Barqueira was shown a yellow card after 24 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
With 29 minutes played,
M. Cadalso could have brought this one home for Berracos as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Berracos claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
With 56 minutes played,
M. Cambeo of Berracos fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Berracos managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
M. Cambeo cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
A well placed corner kick from
M. Cadalso was followed by
M. Guerra's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Berracos, the score now 4 - 0.
After this, you could see that the players of Berracos were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
O. Zuza got himself booked. The manager of Berracos was not happy.
Altair's
L. Trani had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 88 minutes having been played.
D. Anachkov was the replacement.
Berracos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
A. Chocopino performed admirably for Berracos.
M. Cambeo on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Altair player was
J. Mora Aragon.
On the other hand,
D. Anachkov's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 0.
