Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 22500 to
Stadiun Maulet Arena.
Anastas Dedaj was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rien Weijers and
Tito Focardi.
VALENCIANETS tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Márton - Kriegstein, Montoliu, Afonso - Cherkezov, Escobedo, Muraglia, Brixen, Escribano - Armenteros, Mäentaus.
Figueruelas started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Ganea - Rzepecki, Brockamp, Yülük - Lagarriga, Munteanu, Arranz, Arntzen, Triana - Molins Segovia, Kolodin.
VALENCIANETS took the lead 7 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
P. Escobedo elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
15 minutes into the game Figueruelas's
R. Munteanu found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1.
Making his way up the middle 15 minutes into the match,
F. Armenteros almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
C. Ganea blocked it to keep the score level.
VALENCIANETS will have to do without
C. Muraglia for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 16 minute mark. He was substituted by
V. Bové.
Down the middle came
S. Triana, making a fantastic play that nearly had Figueruelas take the lead after 18 minutes, but
N. Márton preserved the tie.
It might be a while before the fans see VALENCIANETS's
N. Márton again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 26 minute mark. He was replaced by
M. Valdivieso.
D. Kriegstein became the new VALENCIANETS captain.
The guests took the lead 31 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
O. Lagarriga scoring to make it 1 - 2.
1 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Figueruelas claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
After 65 minutes, Figueruelas's
G. Molins Segovia burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3.
The players of Figueruelas now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
M. Arntzen of Figueruelas took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 66 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 4.
The coach of Figueruelas was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 70 minutes,
C. Sosa came on for
B. Kolodin.
R. Munteanu received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 72 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 5. The Figueruelas fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
With 75 minutes played, Figueruelas put themselves up 1 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
G. Molins Segovia.
After 76 minutes Figueruelas's
C. Ganea limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
Figueruelas had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
VALENCIANETS's best player was
F. Armenteros.
L. Escribano turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Figueruelas player was
G. Molins Segovia.
However,
C. Ganea made a disastrous appearance.
