Mihăilă broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from D. Caillol after 29 minutes, and prevented Athletic from going up another goal. J. Thyrring received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 34 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Athletic fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Athletic claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

After 57 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed D. Caillol to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 5. With 72 minutes played, Athletic's G. Mihăilă missed a penalty when the keeper made a premature dive in the right direction, and palmed the ball out of the way. With 73 minutes played, D. Caillol nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Piris's S. Statti cut towards the middle after 75 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 5. The home crowd was not impressed when J. Thyrring came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 76 minutes. Athletic were now up 1 - 6. That made three goals for J. Thyrring and he was marked down for the hat trick. Possession in this half belonged to Athletic, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.

Á. Riaño performed admirably for Piris. R. Parull turned in a dismal performance, however. Athletic's top performer was clearly G. Mihăilă. T. Bourquin was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 6.
