vulos 1 - 3 Danlau (383136018)

Dark skies made the crowd of 20472 at MANGAS STADIUM a little nervous, but the rain held off. Edwin Sauls was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cataldo Minonzio and Juan Eduardo Olivieri. A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for vulos. Lineup: Contamina - Mitov, Arburua, Lezay, Mascaró, Gligor - Lentge, Aguas, Sánchez - Yuste, Prainha.

Danlau decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players had been chosen: Marino - Serrano Redondo, Mulero, Loffredo, Chía - Soler, Goláez, Presas, Vázquez, Laforest - Aliotta.

For their match strategy, vulos had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Danlau clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. vulos were very close to putting themselves one up after 18 minutes as F. Yuste got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. Some great play up the middle by vulos led to a chance for A. Gligor to score after 20 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. vulos's V. Aguas tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. After 32 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Danlau on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by P. Soler to make it 0 - 1. The home crowd was not impressed when M. Serrano Redondo came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 33 minutes. Danlau were now up 0 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to vulos, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

vulos's T. Arburua found himself alone on the left side 60 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! Danlau's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 61 minutes gone, but M. Serrano Redondo's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. 64 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as C. Aliotta finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Danlau lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when A. Gligor scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 1 - 3. Danlau's P. Soler was shown a yellow card after 84 minutes for slicing down an opponent. vulos claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

The most dominating vulos player was without a doubt S. Prainha. However, A. Gligor made a disastrous appearance. Most important Danlau player was C. Aliotta. R. Marino turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
