Plumon had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
They fielded: Veidázar - Aaby, Ruston, Nervo - Prisadnishki, Magri, Muschler, Martínez - Eguskitzaga, Ilarduya, Mamán.
Ronon decided to use a 5-2-3 set up.
Lineup: Lavaine - Filchev, Abadín, Zabala, Conway, Chelman - Orriols, Suelves - Essel, Michel, From.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Ronon.
B. Muschler was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
After 31 minutes, the defensive line of Ronon created a counterattack through the middle that gave
R. From a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
With 34 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Ronon resulted in a counterattack that set
J. Michel free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.

J. Essel had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
J. Mora.
Making his way up the middle 37 minutes into the match,
L. Eguskitzaga almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
F. Lavaine blocked it to keep the score level.
After 39 minutes,
M. Mamán came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Plumon the lead.

G. Chelman of Ronon received a yellow card after 75 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
With 86 minutes played, the Ronon coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
R. Villaggio came on,
A. Suelves had to leave the fray.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Ronon's
V. Orriols was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 87 minutes.
