Clear skies welcomed the 3684 spectators who had made their way to Águilas SP Arena. Domingo Constantinescu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Franklin Huf and Piero Sinigaglia. A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Águilas. They fielded: Lea - Giralt, Rincon Ramos, Maestre Zapata, Gauca - Krauss, Jokimaa, Albin, Pilsten, Simion - Cruells.

Chopetinha decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Starters: Yerro - Gispert, Company, Maine Sáenz, Tamariz Vargas - Río, Castejón, Moyano, Irarramendi - Bellart, Mercader.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for Águilas. After 19 minutes, Chopetinha's C. Río swiftly ran past J. Gauca and nutmegged the keeper! 0 - 1. One of many good crosses from M. Krauss on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by I. Cruells, who scored for Águilas. 1 - 1 E. Irarramendi's speed was clear to see after 31 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released P. Mercader who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1 - 2. Águilas pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. When J. Lea left the game because of a back injury after 38 minutes, Águilas had to continue a man short due to there being no available replacements. A. Maestre Zapata rose to the challenge and took position between the goal posts. I. Cruells was handed the Águilas captain's armband. Chopetinha's J. Gispert was shown a yellow card after 40 minutes for slicing down an opponent. L. Simion was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Águilas with a strike from the left, but D. Yerro managed to ward the shot off for a corner. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Águilas enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 56 minutes into the match, an alert I. Cruells bagged the ball for Águilas, levelling the score to 2 - 2. At this time in the match, Águilas were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. Unfortunately for Águilas, A. Maestre Zapata suffered a concussion after 60 minutes and had to be taken for tests. The coach had his head in his hands after realising he could not send a replacement onto the pitch, and the team had to continue a man short. A field player had to replace the goalkeeper, and this difficult task fell to J. Giralt . A penalty was given after 71 minutes, allowing the visitors to gain the lead: 2 - 3. J. Bellart was the scorer. A drive down the left side allowed P. Mercader to get in close and score another goal for Chopetinha after 74 minutes, taking the score to 2 - 4. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Krauss got himself booked. The manager of Águilas was not happy. Chopetinha made it 2 - 5 as P. Mercader got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to E. Maine Sáenz who whipped a low drive in off the far post. P. Castejón received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 83 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 2 - 6. The Chopetinha fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Chopetinha lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Chopetinha's C. Río was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 86 minutes. Águilas's M. Pilsten refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 87 minutes. Chopetinha had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Águilas's top performer was clearly I. Cruells. On the other hand, J. Giralt's play was disheartening. Chopetinha's best player was J. Bellart. C. Río was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 6.
