previous 1/4 next 3/4  Chocotetes 0 - 11 waltrapas (383183513)

Clear skies welcomed the 11142 spectators who had made their way to Chocotetes estadio. Roberto Spagna was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Slobodan Popović and Bonifaz Rodbertus. Chocotetes decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Yera - Giralt, Gomis, Salamanca, Caramani - Macón, Miraball, Canudes, da Pena - Pluvins, Sardiné.

waltrapas tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Starters: Fedon - Klein, Lasek, Beimgraben, Spotti - Cusumano, Díaz, Tafalla, Menegati - Martí, Gaja.

waltrapas demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. The corner kick from M. Beimgraben was powerfully met by the head of O. Spotti to make the score 0 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Sardiné from Chocotetes a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 7 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 12 minutes into the game, Chocotetes seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. Chocotetes's C. Caramani was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 31 minutes. With 33 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed D. Díaz of waltrapas to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. 35 minutes into the game, Chocotetes seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. After 37 minutes, waltrapas's M. Beimgraben burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. After 41 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for J. Tafalla who increased waltrapas's lead to 0 - 4. After 42 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave J. Tafalla a chance to increase the lead for waltrapas, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. By now, the players in waltrapas felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Chocotetes's J. Pluvins had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 43 minutes having been played. A. Menéndez was the replacement. Halftime score was 0 - 5. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by waltrapas, with 82 percent of the ball.

During the break, Chocotetes's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. A drive down the left side allowed P. Gaja to get in close and score another goal for waltrapas after 51 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 6. 56 minutes in, Chocotetes appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. After 57 minutes, waltrapas sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached P. Gaja, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 7. waltrapas's M. Cusumano was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - P. Gaja managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 8 after 64 minutes. By then P. Gaja had scored three goals - a hat trick! Some fine movement on the left led to a waltrapas goal after 69 minutes, making it 0 - 9. J. Martí was noted down as the scorer. D. Díaz of waltrapas received a yellow card after 70 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The visitors' J. Tafalla took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 74 minutes into the match. 0 - 10 for waltrapas. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for J. Tafalla. With 79 minutes played, waltrapas put themselves up 0 - 11 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was J. Martí. waltrapas claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 86 percent.

Most important Chocotetes player was A. Menéndez. J. Yera was a disappointment, however. P. Gaja performed admirably for waltrapas. C. Lasek turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 11.
