previous 7/10 next 9/10  ATT 3 - 4 Gemina (383185777)

The crowd of 3578 turning up at Arena Mix today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Efraín Iturbide was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luca Diana and Gustavo Alonso Mogollón. ATT tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Briffaud - Lanuza Urries, Usabiaga, Lacalle Rubio, Nájera Blasco - Calle, Matas, Contreras, Martín - Parapar, Recio Martín.

Gemina decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: Gois - Zeiss, Ruiz Aledo, Csendes - Hansen, Ðurašinović, Carme, Cáceres - Ştirban, Duro, Dieval.

ATT's D. Recio Martín left the field after 13 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was L. Galindo. The ATT captaincy was handed to D. Calle. R. Contreras behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 31 minutes as he gave the ball away to F. Carme. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when R. Dieval was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 33 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! ATT's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing L. Galindo to score easily from the right flank for 1 - 0. Things were deteriorating for the away team as ATT scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for D. Calle after 35 minutes. S. Briffaud made a brilliant save 36 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from Á. Csendes on the right hand side. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Gemina, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

Still ahead in the game after 46 minutes, ATT made some tactical adjustments. S. Martín and D. Calle swapped positions. After 50 minutes, Gemina switched R. Dieval with F. Bulović, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The bench was restless, and with 54 minutes passed Gemina's coach gave S. Pyrc the opportunity the player had been hoping for. C. Duro reluctantly left the field. S. Martín was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but L. Galindo seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. 76 minutes into the game, P. Nájera Blasco had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came R. Gaínza. With 77 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Gemina showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 2 - 1 when F. Bulović got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. The visiting team's Á. Csendes was able to score the 2 - 2 equaliser with a header 81 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. After 86 minutes, Gemina's S. Pyrc made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 2 - 3. I. Ðurašinović of Gemina took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 89 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 2 - 4. Confident in their lead, Gemina's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. That ATT's M. Lacalle Rubio has the ability of doing what no one expects him to do was shown as he ran over an opposing defender, snatched the ball and passed to A. Parapar who hit it hard into the wide open goal after 89 minutes: 3 - 4! Had it not been for one of the home defenders, S. Pyrc would have put Gemina up another goal 89 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Gemina enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.

ATT's best player was A. Parapar. However, F. Usabiaga made a disastrous appearance. A. Ştirban performed admirably for Gemina. M. Cáceres on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 4.
