Dark skies made the crowd of 15000 at
Nueva Augatallada a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Valerio 'L'Immortale' Colombo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ewald Reinders and
Siniša Težak.
Cualedro had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Soekirno - Likas, Snopkowski, Gamundí - Goliszek, Boucherwane, Ñora, Vázquez - Pujol, Pontenova, Bas.
Vedat decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Gouveia - Deswaene, Rivero Figueroa, Ladin - Molero, Villagarcía, Bernabéu, Muñoz Llamas, Schmeling - Carneiro Rodrigues, Correa.
Cualedro used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
Today, Vedat's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
Players in Vedat heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
9 minutes into the game,
J. Bernabéu had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Vedat the lead 14 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall.
J. Muñoz Llamas behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 23 minutes as he gave the ball away to
K. Boucherwane. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
After 24 minutes, Cualedro's
V. Likas fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
The terraces were silenced after 32 minutes when Vedat's
A. Molero put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
33 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as
P. Schmeling finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
Vedat's
Z. Correa made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 34 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
37 minutes into the match,
P. Schmeling came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
With 38 minutes played,
J. Muñoz Llamas of Vedat fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
0 - 2 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Vedat, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.
After 47 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
P. Schmeling a chance to increase the lead for Vedat, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
After this, you could see that the players of Vedat were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
75 minutes into the game, Vedat worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
A. Molero of Vedat was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
J. Bernabéu after 83 minutes, and prevented Vedat from going up another goal.
Vedat claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.
Cualedro's top performer was clearly
X. Pontenova.
However,
J. Snopkowski made a disastrous appearance.
Vedat's best player was
Z. Correa.
F. Carneiro Rodrigues turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 3.
