A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 15776 to
Molinón.
Thomas Abbink was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Constantin Igna and
Kjell Våge.
Sportingdyc had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Lineup: Delbaere - Woermann, Ruffo, Stralsund - Marín Valle, Eichelmann, Teller, Dantschotter - Kisza, Tro, Alves.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Martinez.
The following players had been chosen: 新彬 (Xinbin) - Villaño, Camino, 伟恩 (Weien), Ciruelo - Pedroso, Cabrejo, Saggs, Monterroso - Oxenstierna, Aspiazu.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Sportingdyc tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
M. Alves slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0, 5 minutes into the game.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
M. Alves squirmed through their central defence after 6 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
18 minutes into the game,
P. Stralsund had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
J. Spínola.
Martinez's
D. Aspiazu got himself booked for a foul.
Unfortunately for Sportingdyc,
H. Eichelmann was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
M. Kaniak replaced him.
Cheers filled the stadium as
J. Tro broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Sportingdyc.
B. Delbaere made a brilliant save 34 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from
R. Oxenstierna on the right hand side.
After 37 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Martinez found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
It was 3 - 0 at the break.
Sportingdyc claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
During the break, Martinez's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to
solid organisation.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Sportingdyc's
J. Marín Valle increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
Confident in their lead, Sportingdyc's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
It wasn't a good day at all for
R. Saggs. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day.
Sportingdyc solidified their lead at the 60 minute mark, as
M. Teller dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0.
63 minutes into the game, Sportingdyc were awarded a penalty that
M. Teller turned into 6 - 0 without a problem.
Sportingdyc were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 64 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
M. Teller. 7 - 0 for the home side.
This third goal completed a hattrick for
M. Teller.
After 75 minutes, Sportingdyc's
M. Alves fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
76 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
F. Ruffo broke through, making the score 8 - 0 for Sportingdyc.
Coming from the right,
M. Kisza almost managed to score another goal for Sportingdyc, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sportingdyc, with 71 percent of the ball.
Most important Sportingdyc player was
M. Kisza.
J. Dantschotter was a disappointment, however.
Martinez's best player was
I. Pedroso.
苏. 新彬 (Xinbin) turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 8 - 0.
