previous 7/10 next 9/10  Tupus 8 - 0 Malalts (383250875)

5942 punters turned up at Los Tupus Field, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Øystein Jensen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Paolo Battiato and Leonardo Sánchez. People from all over Barcelona had joined up for the derby. Tupus started off with a 4-3-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Ziegner - Radid, Marzo, Baró, Tresserras - Montesinos, Eulate, Esteller - Labrue Carrasco, Meléndez, Cadalla.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Malalts. Starters: Alsina - Ugarteche, Gana, Escatllar, Arqués - Olaya, Molero, Arrotain, Reales-Cala - Narváez Barba, Noboa.

Tupus took a creative approach on the field. The corner kick from I. Baró was powerfully met by the head of S. Radid to make the score 1 - 0. 28 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as P. Meléndez broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Tupus. V. Escatllar's lack of experience almost gave Tupus a goal after 34 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. After 35 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and J. Montesinos gave the Tupus supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0. Tupus's J. Esteller got himself booked for a foul. Unfortunately for Malalts, V. Olaya was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. M. Granados replaced him. 42 minutes into the match, I. Baró could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Tupus claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

Things were going to get worse for the visitors. P. Cadalla squirmed through their central defence after 54 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0. The players of Tupus now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. A lack of experience caused M. Arqués to make a difficult dribble close to dangerous opponent J. Montesinos of Tupus, who took the opportunity to score making it 5 - 0. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Tupus's B. Labrue Carrasco increasing the lead to 6 - 0. 85 minutes into the match I. Baró put Tupus ahead 7 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick. Tupus's I. Baró struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 8 - 0 after 86 minutes. Tupus enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

Tupus's best player was P. Meléndez. B. Ziegner was a disappointment, however. J. Noboa performed admirably for Malalts. M. Arqués on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 8 - 0.
