11-08-2012 14.15
8050 punters turned up at
Chafarins Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Louis Mühren was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marco Tremolada and
Clint Cumbo.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Chafarins.
Starters: Chaplain - Güeco, Pita, Gray - Anchorena, Eirea, Vayer, Osorio - Henke, Mäder, Messinese.
K.A.I had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Triquell - Garrido Pérez, Aínsa, Petra, Yanguas Benito - Etxebarren, Belhagorri, Villasante, Checa - Yecora, Silva Haro.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 3 minutes, K.A.I did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
I. Etxebarren was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1.
Due to some great work on the right wing Chafarins's
C. Eirea was able to even the score after 10 minutes to make the score 1 - 1.
Chafarins took the lead 25 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as
C. Eirea elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
Chafarins's
O. Gray left the field after 27 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
J. Varela.
Chafarins's
J. Varela increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 28 minutes.
It was 3 - 1 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Chafarins, with 54 percent of the ball.
Chafarins's
P. Henke had an excellent opportunity after 64 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
After 75 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
A. Güeco gave the Chafarins supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1.
An awe-inspiring free kick by
B. Belhagorri of K.A.I resulted in a goal 76 minutes into the game! 4 - 2 was the new score.
T. Mäder should probably have put his team up another goal after 82 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
C. Triquell kept the visitors in the game.
K.A.I's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 83 minutes gone, but
M. Villasante's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.
P. Henke performed admirably for Chafarins.
On the other hand,
A. Anchorena's play was disheartening.
The most dominating K.A.I player was without a doubt
B. Belhagorri.
I. Garrido Pérez on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 2.
