(383434862)

25-08-2012 14.25
Dark skies made the crowd of 6797 at
Equipo Pongo Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Elek Dezső was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Johan Skovfoged and
Nick Karreman.
Equipo decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Lineup: Cisternes - Mones, Mundó, Alekov, Bouchnaq - Baldaquí, Ausàs, Goikoetxea, Núñez - Federigui, Plaza.
AVALANCHA had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Girgas - Cantoni, Harper, Ciga, Carvajal - Congil, Labauria, Salrà, Motoca - Setuain, Aguiar de Luque.
Against a lesser team, Equipo could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 9 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 28 minute mark, AVALANCHA's
S. Salrà hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
Equipo took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 35 minutes into the match.
J. Mones scored from the penalty spot.
Equipo's
A. Núñez was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 36 minutes.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
A. Carvajal should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Equipo a goal with 37 minutes of the match played.
The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 39 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but
D. Cisternes got the best of it, blocking the shot from
J. Aguiar de Luque.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Equipo claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
K. Labauria made a run for the goal 63 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end.
Coming through the middle
R. Cantoni almost scored the equaliser for AVALANCHA after 65 minutes, but
D. Cisternes made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post.
H. Bouchnaq of Equipo was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Equipo increased the lead as
A. Goikoetxea struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
It was showtime for artist
A. Núñez who showed off his technical mastery when he rounded
S. Salrà and finished with a goal to make the score 3 - 0.
The crowd roared its approval when
D. Cisternes somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by AVALANCHA's
K. Labauria 76 minutes into the game.
Possession in this half belonged to Equipo, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Q. Baldaquí performed admirably for Equipo.
H. Mundó on the other hand, had a terrible day.
AVALANCHA's top performer was clearly
M. Setuain.
However,
Ò. Girgas made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 0.
