It had rained all day, but 5251 hardy fans still made it out to
bartolo Arena.
Lolo Pumpido was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Udo Wedekind and
Ferdinand Muka.
bartolo tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: do Carril - Venys, Chipre, Lezay, Ginin - Giménez Paz, Gelpi, Quintín, Borredà - Barraquer, Ripoll.
Doggy decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Acosta - Ibartola, Zdanowski, Ramos Redondo - Sebuła, Di Bidino, Boncompagni, Bateman, Zaracho - Braun, Verdeja.
It was a bad day for the usually speedy
J. Zaracho. The mud seemed to slow him down.
Doggy took the lead 17 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
P. Ramos Redondo was the scorer.
After 28 minutes, Doggy's
A. Verdeja burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2.
M. Barraquer didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain.
After 30 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
R. Braun who increased Doggy's lead to 0 - 3.
Confident in their lead, Doggy's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
M. Bateman received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 41 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Doggy fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4.
Doggy claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
G. Gelpi almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
R. Braun was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 56 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Doggy goal after 75 minutes, making it 0 - 5.
A. Verdeja was noted down as the scorer.
Doggy had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
bartolo's best player was
A. Ripoll.
However,
D. do Carril made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Doggy player was without a doubt
R. Braun.
P. Ramos Redondo was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 5.
