previous 1/4 next 3/4  Mens 0 - 2 CAMPFC (383702494)

A scorching day at Pe Park, where 6161 spectators were in place for today's match. Danny Azulay was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Renze Leblanc and Terkel Fogh. Mens decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Tobalina - Ruescas, Bouzada, Monteiro, Sacaluga - Bursuk, Camacho, Knorr Garrido, Almansa - Ballado, Hoz.

CAMPFC tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Cansino - Grimau, Salamanca, Escarré, Melgarejo - Bustos Fermoso, Eduegui, Romero Romero, Silva Mitjans - Sáenz Aragón, Hereu.

With 33 minutes gone, C. Knorr Garrido suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Mens caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. A penalty was given after 41 minutes, allowing the visitors to gain the lead: 0 - 1. M. Grimau was the scorer. CAMPFC's G. Sáenz Aragón lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to J. Hereu who finished for 0 - 2 with 42 minutes of the match played. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile J. Hereu. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. CAMPFC had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

Mens's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 84 minutes gone, but E. Bursuk's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. CAMPFC's J. Hereu got himself booked for a foul. M. Tobalina was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Mens's G. Medina Fábrega had to come off the bench. Possession in this half belonged to CAMPFC, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Mens's best player was F. Ruescas. C. Monteiro was a disappointment, however. Most important CAMPFC player was J. Melgarejo. On the other hand, G. Cansino's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 2.
