29753 fans braved the pouring rain at
FC Siberia Arena.
Radolph Zlabinger was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Carlos Hernán Claros and
Szabolcs Keindl.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Kaunas derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Siberia tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Castilla - Vitginis, Berthelot, Cristino - Breitenstein, Field, Semialjac, Waldl-Zimmermann, Veden - Kelemen, Cornescu.
LAMATA decided to use a 5-4-1 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Dziurman - Vaurus, Fonz, Trudovas, Dolmatas, Lunkevičius - 道遥 (Daoyao) , Séchaud, Hyde, Trzcina - Lunz.
Siberia mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
LAMATA clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
W. Trzcina finished off the counterattack of LAMATA from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 1.
LAMATA's
T. Lunz was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 9 minutes.
17 minutes in, LAMATA's
高. 道遥 (Daoyao) received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Siberia's
D. Field left the field after 19 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
P. Spiegelberg.
J. Fonz was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
LAMATA mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 33 minutes, but
W. Trzcina was unable to convert from short range.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Siberia claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
The home crowd cheered when, after 47 minutes,
P. Hyde's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
W. Trzcina left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 52 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
S. Machado was the replacement.
Siberia's
L. Cornescu made an attempt at equalising 64 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound.
The LAMATA players could smell victory in the air.
T. Lunz wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
D. Muslimi after 68 minutes.
J. Fonz was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a LAMATA counterattack from the left after 76 minutes. His neat finish made the score 0 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to Siberia, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Most important Siberia player was
L. Veden.
M. Vitginis turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating LAMATA player was without a doubt
D. Muslimi.
However,
G. Dolmatas made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 2.
