F.1.C. 4 - 1 Suvalkai
(383711573)

21-07-2012 15.20
Dark skies made the crowd of 43806 at
F.1.C. pit a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Ben Bible was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jean-Luc Agoune and
Tawatchai Kiatyothin.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for F.1.C..
They fielded: Doroftei - Sesickis, Lachtikovas, Ånggård - Givon, Aktün, Oelde, Ribichini, Burchas - Ring, Posti.
Suvalkai decided to use a 4-3-3 set up.
The following players took the field: Obidowski - Chodes, Emsal, Leichtle, Haj-Kaleel - Andžić, Semeniaka, Ehlerding - Mihart, Martín Domínguez, Tennberg.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Suvalkai.
After 36 minutes of play,
N. Ribichini gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
With 37 minutes played,
M. Burchas could have brought this one home for F.1.C. as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
As
H. Leichtle had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Suvalkai player a red card without batting an eyelid.
Unfortunately for F.1.C.,
I. Doroftei was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
M. Martynov replaced him.
A. Aktün had a fantastic opportunity to put F.1.C. up another goal 42 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
F.1.C. were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 43 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
N. Ribichini. 2 - 0 for the home side.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
F.1.C. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 75 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
T. Tennberg completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper.
F.1.C. put themselves up 3 - 0 when
M. Posti broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Ring from F.1.C. a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 86 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A. Ring increased the lead for F.1.C. to 4 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Confident in their lead, F.1.C.'s players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The corner kick from
I. Mihart was powerfully met by the head of
P. Martín Domínguez to make the score 4 - 1.
F.1.C. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
The most dominating F.1.C. player was without a doubt
M. Posti.
M. Martynov on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Suvalkai player was
Ž. Andžić.
On the other hand,
P. Martín Domínguez's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 1.
