21-07-2012 15.20
37282 spectators had come to
Delle Alpi this cloudy day.
Johan Hansson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Andreas Borgland and
Jaromir Niedziela.
All of
Panevėžys was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Dileris decided to use a 5-4-1 set up.
They fielded: González - Renblom, Valdovinos, Scipioni, Guzmán, Carbone - dos Reis, Dias Graça, Iversen, Gądek - Moita Flores.
Jaunuoliai started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
Starters: Gómez - Calabrese, Schinz, Gal, Jiménez Rota - Vizitiu, Chiodi, Pirhonen, Semnani, Walde - Giossi.
For their match strategy, Jaunuoliai had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
V. Vizitiu made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 10 minutes into the match.
O. Giossi bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Jaunuoliai. 0 - 1.
12 minutes into the game,
F. Iversen came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
A. Valdovinos of Dileris was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
After 29 minutes, Jaunuoliai surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been.
The referee showed Jaunuoliai's
F. Calabrese the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Dileris were forced into a substitution as
F. Iversen couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
R. Rohrhofer to come in off the bench.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Dileris had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.
Jaunuoliai mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 49 minutes, but
M. Pirhonen was unable to convert from short range.
O. Giossi increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
Jaunuoliai's
O. Giossi was shown a yellow card after 71 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The Dileris free kick 81 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
Z. Dias Graça, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 2!
After 82 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
O. Giossi to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 3.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
O. Giossi.
After this, you could see that the players of Jaunuoliai were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Dileris enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.
Dileris's top performer was clearly
O. Moita Flores.
Y. González turned in a dismal performance, however.
Jaunuoliai's best player was
S. Chiodi.
On the other hand,
E. Walde's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 3.
