A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 41103 to
Katinienės laukas..
Jörgen Erner was the appointed referee.
All of
Utena was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Azse decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
They fielded: Shemer - Pyndt, Milliņš - Haro, van Pas, Puzinauskas, Tanta, Cortellazzi - Kresmer, Sârbu, Sędzicki.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Aratron.
The following players had been chosen: Bengoechea - Kšivickis, Weigel, Burdin, Arango - Kellerer, Trijonis, Maçãs, Bražaitis - Flassak, Quéguiner.
Azse used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
The wings were the focus of most of Aratron's attacks today.
16 minutes in, Aratron's
T. Kellerer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Azse players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
M. Tanta caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 29 minutes. This gave Azse the 1 - 0 lead.
The game was close to savage at times, and Aratron's
T. Kellerer received a second yellow card after 31 minutes; his ticket out of the game.
Azse's
H. Kresmer increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 32 minutes.
Azse solidified their lead at the 35 minute mark, as
H. Kresmer dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
Azse enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
Cheers filled the stadium as
H. Kresmer broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Azse.
That made three goals for
H. Kresmer and he was marked down for the hat trick.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
H. Sędzicki squirmed through their central defence after 59 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 0.
Confident in their lead, Azse's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
R. Kšivickis of Aratron received a yellow card after 65 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Coming from the right,
H. Kresmer almost managed to score another goal for Azse, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
It wasn't a good day at all for
A. Milliņš. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Azse's
R. van Pas increasing the lead to 6 - 0.
Azse had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
P. Sârbu performed admirably for Azse.
M. Tanta was a disappointment, however.
Most important Aratron player was
R. Quéguiner.
On the other hand,
J. Weigel's play was disheartening.
The match ends 6 - 0.
