Vilnius 6 - 0 Vln LT
(383745340)

07-07-2012 15.20
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 6603 to
REO Arena.
Bartolomé Fiorotto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ferhat Gökdeniz and
Jochum Meels.
All of
Vilnius was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Vilnius had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
The following players had been chosen: 健雄 (Jianxiong) - Mičas, Sičiūnas, Knowles, Žalakys - Murovskis, Kitajevas, Benkenstein, Šiaudys, Valašimas - da Raiz.
Vln LT decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Lineup: Liupševičius - Bingelis, Osetrovas, Kardišauskas, Vebeliūnas - Damkauskas, Šilmiežis, Perednius, Kriačius - Ungurianas, Šlapikas.
Vilnius clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Vilnius took the lead 6 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
A. Knowles elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
A. Sičiūnas squirmed through their central defence after 10 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
After 38 minutes,
U. Kitajevas put Vilnius ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Halftime score was 3 - 0.
Vilnius enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
A. Knowles increased the lead for Vilnius to 4 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
R. Žalakys of Vilnius was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
65 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
R. Žalakys broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for Vilnius.
By now, the players in Vilnius felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
A. Sičiūnas received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 74 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Vilnius increased the lead as
O. Benkenstein struck to make the score 6 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Possession in this half belonged to Vilnius, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Vilnius's top performer was clearly
G. da Raiz.
G. Šiaudys was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Vln LT player was without a doubt
T. Kriačius.
However,
K. Liupševičius made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 6 - 0.
