45000 spectators had come to
Wreckorder Arena this cloudy day.
Marcello Rofi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Félix Patrón and
Lucian Petrescu.
Leopoldov had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Gardon - Juhár, Gáborík, Domahidy - Kačica, Zahatňanský, Burgan, Knapec, Guma - Oršulák, Pacovský.
Sklabiňa decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Benayoun - Sankiewicz, Csizmadia, Vikstad - Călin, Gnojewski, Soukup, Westrell, Goodman - Vigiani, Cruz.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 35 minutes into the match left Sklabiňa's
C. Soukup completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
37 minutes in, and Leopoldov were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when
L. Pacovský picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 39 minutes into the match, and
D. Vigiani wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 - 2 for the visitors.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Leopoldov had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
The Leopoldov players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team.
Sklabiňa's
M. Csizmadia made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 67 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
Leopoldov needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes
Š. Kačica made way for
B. Hrušecký.
The Leopoldov captaincy was handed to
L. Domahidy.
79 minutes into the game, Sklabiňa worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
84 minutes into the match, Leopoldov's
L. Domahidy maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 2 - 2.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Sklabiňa's
M. Cruz after 86 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 2 - 3 lead.
Leopoldov claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
Leopoldov's top performer was clearly
L. Pacovský.
I. Juhár was a disappointment, however.
D. Vigiani performed admirably for Sklabiňa.
However,
L. Benayoun made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 3.
