Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Štadión 8.FC Košice saw a crowd turnout of 27423. Randy Kuizinga was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gonzalo Linares and Szabolcs Jedlik. 8.FC tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Unterberger - Nankman, Droździk, Majstorović, Filusch - Smíšek, Ziver, Bala, Cuccuru - D'Antuono, Cecarroni.

A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Urban. Starters: da Costa - Châteauneuf, Dumitru, Rötzer, Lepeto, Heiz - Demonty, Winkelhagen, Başman - Flücken, Pais.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Urban. Urban's J. Flücken refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 12 minutes. 8.FC's D. Ziver tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Urban almost scored after a swift counterattack 17 minutes into the game, but P. Lepeto put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. With 35 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Urban resulted in a counterattack that set L. Demonty free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. The visiting P. Lepeto was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 37 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. After 42 minutes, the defensive line of Urban created a counterattack through the middle that gave B. Pais a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. It was 0 - 1 at the break. 8.FC enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.

L. Demonty left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. M. Motzer was the replacement. B. Pais wanted to play on, but the Urban coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by L. Sedergren. The Urban players could smell victory in the air. J. Winkelhagen wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for A. Pierce after 70 minutes. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, Y. Başman took over the role of being the Urban captain. 70 minutes into the game, Urban's Y. Başman surprised the visitors with a raking cross-field pass to J. Flücken who easily found the back of the net, making the score 0 - 2. After 73 minutes Urban tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, M. Motzer's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when A. D'Antuono scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 1 - 2. 8.FC were close to equalising with a spectacular free kick by R. Nankman after 76 minutes, but B. da Costa made a great save, tipping it to a corner. 8.FC claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

8.FC's best player was P. Cuccuru. G. Filusch turned in a dismal performance, however. Urban's top performer was clearly C. Dumitru. On the other hand, B. da Costa's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
