previous 4/10 next 6/10  Spartan 9 - 0 duduguys (383795634)

It had rained all day, but 18669 hardy fans still made it out to MyJawa Stadium. Ron Winders was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Klaas Jan Modderman and August Vinaixa. Spartan had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Ussía - Plaza, Brumerčík, Hosseini Dehnavi, Tekay - Verčiliak, Callegaro, Shamray, Jasovský - Kabašta, Krošňák.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for duduguys. Starters: Kinyó - Švamberk, Daňák, Nosál, Bordiga - Inásel, Kotula, Kőtörő, Lúžny - Ričalka, Hnilický.

It was an obvious ambition of Spartan to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Spartan broke through on the left 4 minutes into the game, with K. Krošňák firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. After 21 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and R. Hosseini Dehnavi gave the Spartan supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. Spartan had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. With 29 minutes played, Spartan put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to C. Callegaro, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. With 34 minutes played, C. Callegaro of Spartan fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Č. Ričalka didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. Spartan were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. Spartan's C. Callegaro increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 38 minutes. Confident in their lead, Spartan's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Spartan, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.

Spartan were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 59 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by C. Callegaro. 5 - 0 for the home side. By then C. Callegaro had scored three goals - a hat trick! P. Verčiliak wanted to play on, but the Spartan coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 69 minutes into the game by M. Brindzák. 73 minutes in, Spartan's R. Hosseini Dehnavi received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 76 minutes Spartan's M. Brindzák limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. It was obvious that Spartan had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. T. Kabašta increased the lead for Spartan to 6 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Content with how the game was proceeding, the Spartan coach let M. Hurda replace C. Callegaro after 84 minutes. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like P. Bordiga. Spartan put themselves up 7 - 0 when K. Krošňák broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. After 88 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Spartan's I. Brumerčík being carried off the pitch and replaced by P. Veselinović. After 88 minutes, P. Veselinović put Spartan ahead 8 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Spartan, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Spartan scored another to make it 9 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for R. Hosseini Dehnavi after 89 minutes. Spartan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 86 percent of possession.

Most important Spartan player was T. Kabašta. M. Hurda on the other hand, had a terrible day. R. Nosál performed admirably for duduguys. However, D. Kinyó made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 9 - 0.
