16-06-2012 15.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 39862 at
Condas Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Gian Conino was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Piotrek Janiszewski and
Birger Dewinne.
Rábaköziek decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Borselli - Monin, Villar, Jørgensen - Takács, Orbović, Gajos, Igartua, Szentkirályi - Gärtner, Duvbom.
Savaria started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Atxustegietxarte - Parrado, Jang, Lejiņš - Almeida, Udvarácz, Ginga, Punzmann, Pisciotta - Konatowski, Bartolomei.
After 12 minutes, Savaria were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
P. Konatowski did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
Rábaköziek created a good opportunity to score 15 minutes into the match when
G. Orbović's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
With 19 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
A. Bartolomei put the ball away for 0 - 1.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Savaria claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
With 47 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by Rábaköziek's
E. Takács reached
M. Szentkirályi's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 1 - 1.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 61 minutes, Savaria tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 62 minutes that gave the visitors the 1 - 2 lead. Despite the controversy,
D. Parrado struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
A drive down the left side allowed
A. Bartolomei to get in close and score another goal for Savaria after 69 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 3.
After 70 minutes, Rábaköziek switched
J. Duvbom with
K. Eck, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
After 72 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
P. Konatowski to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 4.
M. Monin did everything he could to get one back for his Rábaköziek, but keeper
A. Atxustegietxarte denied him with a spectacular block.
79 minutes into the game, Savaria worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
Rábaköziek's top performer was clearly
A. Gärtner.
A. Borselli turned in a dismal performance, however.
Savaria's best player was
A. Punzmann.
However,
A. Almeida made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 4.
