A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 33104 to
Centrum Stadion.
Epi van de Wiel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Klaudio Prusina and
Nenad Livadić.
Centrum tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Piletić - Csősz, Nemecsek, Ciucci - Sal, Grasegger, Kepe, Mohammadi - Süli, Hajtman, Poell.
Milanello decided to use a 4-3-3 set up.
They fielded: Thessalonikios - Parson, Drakbrant, Marchlewski, Ujčić - Scarsoglio, Alečković , Grgurević - Brakszatórisz, Loskarn, Bucchi.
Milanello were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
With 6 minutes played
Z. Kepe almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
F. Ciucci enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
G. Csősz, but the Centrum player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
R. Hajtman's curling free kick almost found the goal for Centrum, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it.
The visiting team's
M. Alečković was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 30 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
Z. Kepe scored for Centrum putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 33 minutes.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
Centrum had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
68 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 2 - 2 as
A. Bucchi struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right.
With 77 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 3 - 2 lead as
O. Grasegger flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.
Centrum solidified their lead at the 79 minute mark, as
F. Poell dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 2.
With 80 minutes played, Centrum put themselves up 5 - 2 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Z. Kepe, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
F. Nemecsek should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Milanello a goal with 84 minutes of the match played.
Cheers filled the stadium as
O. Grasegger broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 2 to Centrum.
Confident in their lead, Centrum's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Centrum claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
Centrum's top performer was clearly
R. Hajtman.
F. Mohammadi was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Milanello player was without a doubt
L. Brakszatórisz.
However,
N. Thessalonikios made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 6 - 2.
