20212 spectators had found their way to Ice Arena, despite the heavy rain. Röbi Hang was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Logtens and Guy Tzur. The derby had been the talk of Budapest all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. LCFC tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. Starters: Stolz - Floridis, Wańczyk, Botos - Wojtaszek, Zounis, Vanesbroeck, Cacciaguerra - Adelmayer, Stancu, Bérczy.

A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Newbie. The following players had been chosen: Kovač - Gaudon, Schierbeek, Jakeš - Sørensen, Orsomando, Bjørn, Flamér - Oltmans, Arosio, Kuopila.

LCFC clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. The wings were the focus of most of Newbie's attacks today. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to E. Vanesbroeck, but the LCFC player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! J. Bjørn had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Á. Bérczy squirmed through their central defence after 25 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in LCFC's E. Vanesbroeck increasing the lead to 3 - 0. LCFC solidified their lead at the 27 minute mark, as L. Stancu dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0. 29 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as L. Stancu broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for LCFC. It was 5 - 0 at the break. LCFC claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of LCFC to 6 - 0 as Á. Bérczy finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Confident in their lead, LCFC's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 59 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Newbie's K. Sørensen to one side and produced a red card for the player. J. Bjørn was handed the Newbie captain's armband. LCFC put themselves up 7 - 0 when Á. Bérczy broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. By then Á. Bérczy had scored three goals - a hat trick! LCFC had to make a substitution after 75 minutes. J. Wojtaszek limped off the field and was replaced by V. Fois. Newbie managed to reduce the score to 7 - 1 as E. Oltmans finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence. T. Flamér was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! Cheers filled the stadium as M. Adelmayer broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 8 - 1 to LCFC. The home team's fans were upset when, after 83 minutes, the visiting E. Arosio broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 8 - 2 was the score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by LCFC, with 53 percent of the ball.

L. Stancu performed admirably for LCFC. V. Fois was a disappointment, however. Newbie's best player was E. Oltmans. On the other hand, F. Gaudon's play was disheartening. The match ends 8 - 2.
