(384109818)

25-08-2012 16.00
67497 punters turned up at
gnafle Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Kevin Canchucaja was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Miguel de Almeida and
Daniel Pastor.
Gnafle decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Myrvoll - Pamparana, Khan, Reitan, Green - Overholdt, Csizi, Hesselballe, Angelucci - Mandel, Helle.
Stonistars started off with a 5-2-3 lineup.
Starters: Myklebust - Nodeland, Kristiansen, Klougart, Smelvær, Kulchenko - Otterstad, Jensen - Andersen, Danielsen, Følstad.
Gnafle were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Stonistars clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Having just won a lot of ground following a quick turn of play, Stonistars were given a free kick at a sharp angle. Rather than going for the direct shot, the defence was bypassed by a few sideways passes, giving
F. Følstad the chance to slip through at goal. Nice teamwork! And 0 - 1, 13 minutes into the game.
Good work by the Stonistars defensive line after 15 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
K. Kristiansen alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide.
Due to some great work on the right wing Gnafle's
E. Overholdt was able to even the score after 21 minutes to make the score 1 - 1.
The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 22 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
E. Helle, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Gnafle's
E. Mandel saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 29 minutes.
F. Smelvær showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Stonistars after 30 minutes to make the score 2 - 2.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Gnafle, with 64 percent of the ball.
After 48 minutes of play,
E. Mandel gave the home team a 3 - 2 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
E. Nodeland from Stonistars a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 52 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Gnafle's
G. Csizi got himself booked for a foul.
After 66 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
H. Reitan gave the Gnafle supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 2.
78 minutes into the game, Gnafle had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
inadequate.
Gnafle claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
E. Helle performed admirably for Gnafle.
H. Khan turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Stonistars player was without a doubt
B. Andersen.
E. Nodeland on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 2.
