Fournial missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. Schalke07's counterattacks created a good chance for P. Istrătescu on the right after 39 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. It was obvious that Stamsund had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. With 42 minutes played C. Campus almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Stamsund enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

Attacking on the wings was the choice for Stamsund, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. Stamsund broke through on the left 84 minutes into the game, with K. Thorsen firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. After 85 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after P. Mansikkahalme made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. K. Thorsen gave Stamsund the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 Stamsund had to manage with a reduced squad after 88 minutes, as B. Fournial got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Stamsund, with 57 percent of the ball.
