previous 7/10 next 9/10  BCW 1 - 2 Olavs Menn (384111527)

It had rained all day, but 40036 hardy fans still made it out to Bericilka Arena. Hans Christian Junker was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vladimir de Almeida and Rafael Hoogerbrugge. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for BCW. The following players took the field: Barrientos - Selenter, Evangelista, Luknja - Romeira, Keinonen, Kazandzhiev, Kraus, Scuderi - Ghinea, Nakić.

Olavs Menn tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Stensby - Johannessen, Nordlund, Bakken - Martinussen, Gleditsch, Molgren, Hansen, Mikkelsen - Krosby, Ingvaldsen.

Olavs Menn had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 6 minutes in when A. Krosby came up alone against A. Barrientos who managed a block. The crowd gasped as R. Ghinea of BCW was flattened by an opponent after 29 minutes and had to be carried off. K. Kupec came in off the bench. Olavs Menn's A. Krosby managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 30 minutes. 0 - 1. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by BCW, with 52 percent of the ball.

With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 47 minutes played, S. Keinonen of BCW made the score 1 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Romeira from BCW a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 50 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A mistake by the home side's central defence after 83 minutes allowed J. Martinussen to score for Olavs Menn. The scoreboard now read 1 - 2. With 84 minutes played, BCW's G. Scuderi found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. After the ball was lifted in from the left, C. Molgren was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 85 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

The most dominating BCW player was without a doubt V. Nakić. However, K. Kupec made a disastrous appearance. Olavs Menn's best player was Å. Ingvaldsen. T. Mikkelsen was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
