Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 48882 at Nannestad Oilers Arena today. Ion Vasilache was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rob Singal and Cosimo Cattaneo. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Nannestad. They fielded: Berte - van Aalst, Kuosmanen, Kausar - Hernández, Zamorski, Johansen, Michenthaler, Picart - Mineo, Lobenstein.

Samboca decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Maréchal - Colban, Lobo, Vestby - Schmidt, Fjørtoft, Būmanis, Linman, Davidsen - Johansen, Johnsen.

Nannestad seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Samboca. Nannestad could have put themselves ahead after 5 minutes but B. Picart missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Linman from Samboca a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 12 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! T. Johnsen showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Samboca after 23 minutes to make the score 0 - 1. 37 minutes into the game, M. Mineo came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Nannestad claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

Nannestad put pressure on the visitors' central defence 49 minutes into the game, but B. Picart couldn't find an opening. 50 minutes into the game Samboca managed a counterattack, but P. Linman took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. Nannestad tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. A good free kick by L. Johansen would have scored the equaliser for Nannestad, had it not been for the dramatic save by the visitors' goalkeeper. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Nannestad, but J. Kuosmanen's shot went over the bar. Nannestad enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

Nannestad's best player was M. Mineo. O. Kausar was a disappointment, however. Samboca's top performer was clearly A. Johansen. On the other hand, L. Davidsen's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 1.
