Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 40401 at
Virreløkka today.
Rubén Miyagawa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ignacy Grzegoszczyk and
Remko Cleassens.
Virre decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Chudeusz - Zagańczyk, Vientulis, Claassen, Nalewajka - Gödl, Jaša, Gkavasiadis, Fernández - Lacara, Stencel.
Tomatsuppa tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination.
They fielded: Saarman - Siopis, Trincas, Meerbusch, Menéndez-Pidal, Volodin - Enrich, Trepicchio, Porcel Muñoz, Aimetti - Lindrup.
For their match strategy, Tomatsuppa had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Tomatsuppa showed their counterattack skill 8 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
P. Lindrup scoring uncontested for 0 - 1.
With 14 minutes played,
T. Meerbusch of Tomatsuppa fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
After 22 minutes, a deliberate handball from Tomatsuppa's
T. Meerbusch was judged to be his second bookable offence, and he was sent off.
The corner kick from
Y. Siopis was powerfully met by the head of
R. Volodin to make the score 0 - 2.
By now, the players in Tomatsuppa felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Y. Siopis got himself booked. The manager of Tomatsuppa was not happy.
U. Lacara tried to get a goal back for Virre but despite all his hard work down the right, he just couldn't complete the move.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Virre, with 58 percent of the ball.
Tomatsuppa increased their lead after 51 minutes when
P. Lindrup broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay.
The referee showed Virre's
Z. Jaša the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Virre's
M. Gödl managed a superb strike from the left after 54 minutes that would have left goalkeeper
I. Saarman without a chance, had it not hit the post.
Tomatsuppa's counterattacks created a good chance for
P. Lindrup on the right after 55 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
Tomatsuppa's
G. Enrich left the field after 56 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
T. Lamdauer.
G. Rombaut was called on to replace Tomatsuppa's
A. Trincas after 64 minutes following a nasty collision.
As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
P. Lindrup took over the role of being the Tomatsuppa captain.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Tomatsuppa coach let
A. Silva Dores replace
P. Lindrup after 66 minutes.
J. Porcel Muñoz became the new Tomatsuppa captain.
78 minutes into the game, Tomatsuppa seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organisation.
Virre's
U. Lacara got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 3.
The bicycle kick from
T. Aimetti would have been the Goal of the Year for Tomatsuppa, had it not hit the post.
E. Gkavasiadis missed a penalty after 81 minutes, seemingly unable to stay focused for the shot.
Virre had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.
Most important Virre player was
W. Stencel.
On the other hand,
D. Chudeusz's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Tomatsuppa player was without a doubt
A. Silva Dores.
However,
T. Aimetti made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 3.
