(384262314)

21-07-2012 17.30
It had rained all day, but 35880 hardy fans still made it out to
Knock Park.
Kuzman Kolev was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Anton Dachauer and
Alfred Cesar.
All of
Highlands and Islands was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Lochaline decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Janes - Hayler, Gil Ferreira, Bowman, Borisch - Tapia Cabezón, Rubio Baños, Cortese, Vázquez - Amichai, Stawny.
Valiants tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Sáenz Barrio - Harto, Micklehose, Harold, Coissoró - Skrl, MacCririe, Henrique, Frijling - Dervišagić, Landvoogd.
For their match strategy, Lochaline had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
An opportunity to take the lead after 7 minutes was wasted as Valiants's
K. Landvoogd missed a penalty, firing wide of the mark.
B. MacCririe was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
Valiants took the lead after 15 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
N. Dervišagić placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Valiants goal after 17 minutes, making it 0 - 2.
N. Dervišagić was noted down as the scorer.
Lochaline's
M. Cortese lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to
C. Stawny who finished for 1 - 2 with 21 minutes of the match played.
K. Landvoogd slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Valiants, with 64 percent of the ball.
Valiants's
G. Harold refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 59 minutes.
With 65 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
N. Frijling of Valiants to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 3.
J. Henrique of Valiants took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 66 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 4.
Confident in their lead, Valiants's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Valiants enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
V. Borisch performed admirably for Lochaline.
B. Gil Ferreira on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Valiants's top performer was clearly
B. MacCririe.
G. Harold was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 4.
