Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 45207 at The Barry Arena today. Ciprian Rosu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Simon Risberg and Stan Nolan. Inter started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Perrier - Siepała, Waaijer, McManus - Clarke, Templeman, Grymonpre, Cariston, Slump - Voelk, Santarcieri.

Jambo decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Jarvis - Nicholson, Catchpole, Buntain - Gajewski, Ballindalloch, McCullion, Cunningham - Hopper, Buntyne, Picart.

Jambo clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Many thought F. Santarcieri ought to have been awarded a penalty 24 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around B. Jarvis after a determined run through the middle. With 33 minutes played, Inter's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to P. Siepała he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 0. Inter's F. Santarcieri had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 37 minutes having been played. N. Puzikovas was the replacement. M. Slump made a nice dash down the wing after 37 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Inter scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for N. Puzikovas after 38 minutes. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Voelk got himself booked. The manager of Inter was not happy. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. G. Grymonpre squirmed through their central defence after 43 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. Halftime score was 3 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Inter, with 79 percent of the ball.

48 minutes in, Jambo appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. P. Clarke's fine footwork caused nothing but headaches for D. Nicholson. The keeper wasn't fooled however, and confidently scooped up the ball. A great save by keeper B. Jarvis after 64 minutes kept the visitors in the game after G. Grymonpre struck from the left with a real cannonball. The goal to make it 3 - 1 was scored by B. Picart after 65 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Jambo. The home side's M. Slump came close to extending the lead 70 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but B. Jarvis managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Inter's G. Grymonpre increasing the lead to 4 - 1. The players of Inter now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Inter enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 81 percent of possession.

Inter's best player was M. Voelk. N. Puzikovas on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Jambo player was L. Hopper. However, B. Jarvis made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 1.
