previous 6/10 next 8/10  Toulouse_ 4 - 3 Jambo (384262470)

The 34841 spectators at Allianz were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Jani Halmetoja was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Narve Halnes and Darjan Bizjak. A 2-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Toulouse_. The following players took the field: Degollado - Milzi, Likitalo - Jacobsen, Herledan, Thomasset, Marsden, Mochizuki - Balzie, Balmannoch.

Jambo had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Nicholson - Catchpole, Buntain - Aitken, Ballindalloch, Pedersen, Haydn, Beltram - Hopper, Buntyne, Picart.

Jambo tried to focus their attacks down the middle. E. Beltram finished off the counterattack of Jambo from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 1. Jambo's L. Hopper got himself booked for a foul. The player down was T. Marsden. The Toulouse_ bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. With 36 minutes gone, Toulouse_ had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, J. Balmannoch did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. The sun seemed to put A. Aitken in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. 40 minutes in, Toulouse_'s T. Marsden received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 42 minutes into the game, Toulouse_ had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. Due to some great work on the right wing Toulouse_'s P. Likitalo was able to even the score after 43 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. 1 - 2 was the score with 43 minutes played, after L. Hopper cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Jambo. Toulouse_'s V. Milzi was shown a yellow card after 43 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 44 minutes into the game, Toulouse_ seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. The crowd was on its feet 44 minutes into the match, as Toulouse_'s K. Mochizuki found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 2 - 2 equaliser. 44 minutes in, Toulouse_ appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. Jambo were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Jambo took the lead 44 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle. M. Pedersen was the scorer. 2 - 3 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Toulouse_, with 56 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Toulouse_ was able to get his message across, and raised Toulouse_'s organisation to solid. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave E. Beltram from Jambo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 56 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The crowd roared in delight as J. Balmannoch finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Toulouse_ 79 minutes into the match. 3 - 3. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, A. Aitken got himself booked. The manager of Jambo was not happy. Usually a powerful player on the field, P. Likitalo looked kind of pale and tired under the hot sun. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 85 minutes, Toulouse_ did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, J. Balmannoch was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 3. Jambo's B. Picart was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 86 minutes. After 87 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by J. Balmannoch might have resulted in another goal for Toulouse_. However, D. Nicholson made a spectacular save. Toulouse_ put in a good effort on the right, but J. Balmannoch saw his volley fly wide of the mark 88 minutes into the game. Possession in this half belonged to Toulouse_, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Most important Toulouse_ player was G. Herledan. On the other hand, V. Milzi's play was disheartening. Jambo's best player was L. Hopper. A. Aitken was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 3.
