(384262709)

28-07-2012 17.30
Clear skies welcomed the 59244 spectators who had made their way to
Duyên Hải Stadium.
Viet cong started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
The following players took the field: Aponkus - Tate, Kelday - Barr, McCrindle, Garriott, Blunden, Stewarton - Vass, Brett, Thurbrand.
Kings decided to use a 5-2-3 set up.
They fielded: Houmøller - McKeen, Leslie, Manojlović, Convery, Moralez - Ranner, Stenberg - Inglefield, Brunier, Callen.
Kings were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
5 minutes in, Kings appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
Kings mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 14 minutes, but
M. Manojlović was unable to convert from short range.
After 19 minutes,
G. McCrindle made a complete fool of himself when he presented the ball to the feet of
R. Callen who smashed it into the open goal for Kings. 0 - 1.
After 31 minutes, Kings surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1.
Viet cong enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 77 percent of possession.
The Kings players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
passable organisation when the game started again.
R. Inglefield came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
R. Aponkus but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Viet cong's
A. Vass made a successful breakthrough on the left after 56 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar.
After 57 minutes of play,
S. Kelday evened things up for Viet cong with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1.
1 - 2 was the score with 65 minutes played, after
K. Stenberg cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Kings.
C. Stewarton sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
B. Tate after 69 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 2.
Slack defending gave Viet cong a chance to take the lead with 71 minutes played, but
G. McCrindle's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Viet cong, with 76 percent of the ball.
Viet cong's best player was
A. Vass.
A. Blunden was a disappointment, however.
Kings's top performer was clearly
B. Moralez.
M. Convery turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 2 - 2.
