Clear skies welcomed the 33062 spectators who had made their way to
MiLocou Arena.
Jan C. Lövby was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gerd Dubois and
Moisés França.
MiLo started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Nicolescu - Caballero, Príncipe, Niesyto - Çağkan, Cocea, Lanssens, Hansson, Agnew - Knighton, Do Sil.
Dowdys had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Paston - Mollison, MacKnabe, Tilley, Upfield - Stichbury, Trantor, Maguire, Ramsay - Wildsmith, MacNott.
Underestimation of the opposition made MiLo players perform way below their normal capacity.
MiLo took the lead 2 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by
C. Príncipe that made the score 1 - 0.
9 minutes into the match, MiLo's
S. Agnew demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to
Z. Do Sil who chipped it in for 2 - 0.
Confident in their lead, MiLo's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
One of many good crosses from
S. Agnew on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
Z. Do Sil, who scored for MiLo. 3 - 0
MiLo solidified their lead at the 31 minute mark, as
Z. Do Sil dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
Z. Do Sil.
After 32 minutes MiLo's
J. Hansson limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
MiLo increased the lead as
Z. Do Sil struck to make the score 5 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
After 34 minutes, MiLo's
C. Príncipe found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 6 - 0.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of MiLo to 7 - 0 as
Z. Do Sil finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
7 - 0 was the halftime score.
MiLo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 89 percent of possession.
After 48 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
A. Lanssens gave the MiLo supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 8 - 0.
56 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
S. Agnew broke through, making the score 9 - 0 for MiLo.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 73 minutes, MiLo did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
A. Knighton was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 10 - 0.
MiLo managed to extend their lead to 11 - 0 when
J. Hansson cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
After 82 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Z. Do Sil might have resulted in another goal for MiLo. However,
G. Paston made a spectacular save.
MiLo claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 91 percent.
MiLo's top performer was clearly
Z. Do Sil.
V. Nicolescu turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Dowdys player was
K. Wildsmith.
On the other hand,
A. Mollison's play was disheartening.
The match ends 11 - 0.
