Clear skies welcomed the 19960 spectators who had made their way to Borussenpark. Zdenko Kiković was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Per B. Hansson and Tudor Rotaru. Westfalenstern used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Dornstedt's G. José Liano managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 25 minutes. 0 - 1. W. Dyjas increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2. After 37 minutes, Dornstedt's E. Drelles burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Dornstedt's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The visitors' Q. Paeshuys took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 38 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Dornstedt. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when R. Fruehstueck scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 1 - 4. With 42 minutes played, V. Muñoz of Dornstedt fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 1 - 4 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dornstedt, with 65 percent of the ball.

The home team's supporters got excited again when L. Amadeo broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 2 - 4. After 55 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave W. Dyjas a chance to increase the lead for Dornstedt, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 2 - 5. F. Erbenheim received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 73 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 2 - 6. The Dornstedt fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After 74 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for G. José Liano who increased Dornstedt's lead to 2 - 7. Dornstedt claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.

Westfalenstern's best player was J. Voermans. A. Eriksson on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Dornstedt player was F. Erbenheim. G. Hartlauer was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 7.
