16-06-2012 18.00
The 43370 fans in attendance at
Berger Gipfel were roasting in the hot sun.
András Demjén was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Michael Klausen and
Bert Spangberg.
bsghamm had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
The following players took the field: Poissonnet - Tabor, von Ballmoos, Königseder, Atuf - Konetschig, Mutz, Isselhorst, Picot, Romiopoulos - Boes.
Weisse tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Obersdorf - Santilhana, Veselic, Recht - Kansikas, Rensing, Heeg, Ulleweit, Manesis - Geiberger, Nordkvist.
Weisse clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
K. Manesis's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
E. Königseder scored for bsghamm putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 24 minutes.
A. Bandola was called on to replace Weisse's
J. Recht after 34 minutes following a nasty collision.
A well placed corner kick from
F. Picot was followed by
R. Mutz's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for bsghamm, the score now 2 - 0.
The crowd roared its approval when
C. Poissonnet somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by Weisse's
K. Manesis 40 minutes into the game.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of bsghamm to 3 - 0 as
M. von Ballmoos finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of bsghamm lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
bsghamm had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
Encouraged by their lead, after 60 minutes the bsghamm coach asked
K. Konetschig to change positions with
F. Picot.
The coach of bsghamm was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 61 minutes,
N. Zambianchi came on for
F. Picot.
M. Kansikas had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team's keeper
C. Poissonnet was simply unbeatable.
After 75 minutes,
S. Santilhana chose the right corner while taking his penalty, humiliating the home keeper, who dived in the wrong direction. The goal reduced the home lead to 3 - 1.
Weisse claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
bsghamm's best player was
R. Mutz.
On the other hand,
F. Boes's play was disheartening.
P. Geiberger performed admirably for Weisse.
A. Bandola was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 1.
