(384285208)

30-06-2012 18.00
38059 spectators had come to
Gulag Nr.III this cloudy day.
Juan Érroz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jordi Boogert and
Orell Buelow.
Chemnitz decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Maikuhle - Doppelfeldt, Klötern, Wagner - Wiedernig, Schlagenhaufer, Goak, Hasenzagl, Jany - Ambrosius, Garrn.
Weisse started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Obersdorf - Santilhana, Bandola, Recht - Kansikas, Rensing, Heeg, Ulleweit, Zacharias - Geiberger, Nordkvist.
Chemnitz mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
For their match strategy, Weisse had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 23 minutes that gave the visitors the 0 - 1 lead. Despite the controversy,
S. Santilhana struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
P. Zacharias's speed was almost enough to give Weisse a goal after 25 minutes, but his nice pass to
J. Nordkvist was not taken care of properly.
A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
D. Heeg after 29 minutes, and prevented Weisse from going up another goal.
The corner kick from
B. Wiedernig was powerfully met by the head of
C. Doppelfeldt to make the score 1 - 1.
P. Garrn gave Chemnitz the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1.
Chemnitz claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
It was obvious that team Chemnitz had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
Chemnitz solidified their lead at the 48 minute mark, as
S. Klötern dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 1.
By now, the players in Chemnitz felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Hasenzagl from Chemnitz a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 59 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Chemnitz, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
B. Wiedernig had a fantastic opportunity to put Chemnitz up another goal 64 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Weisse earned themselves a free kick after a counterattack wasn't dealt with adequately by their opponents.
S. Santilhana powered the shot in for 3 - 2.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
C. Doppelfeldt got himself booked. The manager of Chemnitz was not happy.
Chemnitz's
M. Hasenzagl's long shot really ought to have found the net 81 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Chemnitz, with 56 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Chemnitz player was without a doubt
E. Ambrosius.
However,
B. Wiedernig made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Weisse player was
P. Geiberger.
P. Zacharias on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 2.
