Ansbach 2 - 3 Avalanche (384287119)

Dark skies made the crowd of 27614 at Spielfesthaus a little nervous, but the rain held off. Patrice Vendramini was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Florin-Bogdan Ianu and Ramón Martín. A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Ansbach. They fielded: Gehema - Sousa, Benavides, 崇证 (Chongzheng), Gevert, Kuzhim - Godoy, Waszkewitz, Schleifenlehner, Beer - Kaendler.

Avalanche started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Detmold - Zitzelsberger, Winklbauer, Pose - Tuğlu, Guminskiy, Hirtreiter, Guerradell, Bordier - Pohl, Mallinowski.

For their match strategy, Ansbach had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. The referee showed Ansbach's E. Beer the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. T. Zitzelsberger gave the visitors the lead 16 minutes into the match to make it 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the penalty area. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 24 minutes gave Ansbach a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and J. Kaendler stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1 After some beautiful movement down the left wing, J. Waszkewitz scored for Ansbach putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 29 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Avalanche, with 54 percent of the ball.

The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 52 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but B. Gehema got the best of it, blocking the shot from A. Mallinowski. Coming in from the right, Ansbach had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 53 minutes, but J. Kaendler's attempt to finish was easily stopped. F. Pohl finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 2 - 2 61 minutes into the match. F. Pohl had a good try after 71 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. With 73 minutes played M. Schleifenlehner almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. After 80 minutes, Avalanche's A. Mallinowski made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 2 - 3. Avalanche had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Ansbach's best player was J. Kaendler. F. Sousa on the other hand, had a terrible day. Avalanche's top performer was clearly F. Pohl. However, Z. Tuğlu made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 3.
