previous 3/10 next 5/10  Nieten 3 - 0 Dresden (384291210)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Nieten FC Arena saw a crowd turnout of 31307. Roope Mäntykangas was the appointed referee. Nieten had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Kranhals - Merkur, Wieland, Degenkolbe - Kainradl, Loesch, Eminger, Bertko, Bont - Scheitler, Hohenbrunn.

Dresden decided to use a 5-4-1 set up. They fielded: Yaparlu - Grob, Kuřil, Bontà, Ångland, Balázs - Naychev, Becquart, Gener, Zubík - Arpomaa.

It was obvious that Dresden were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. Dresden pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. Nieten fans held their breath as T. Bont scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! With 14 minutes played, W. Kainradl could have brought this one home for Nieten as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. With 22 minutes played, Nieten's C. Hohenbrunn almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Nieten claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

62 minutes into the game, Nieten were awarded a penalty that J. Loesch turned into 2 - 0 without a problem. The pressing tactics used by Dresden were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. T. Bont should probably have put his team up another goal after 66 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by T. Yaparlu kept the visitors in the game. E. Merkur of Nieten was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 74 minutes, T. Bont put Nieten ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. The referee showed Dresden's R. Kuřil the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Possession in this half belonged to Nieten, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

The most dominating Nieten player was without a doubt C. Hohenbrunn. However, T. Bont made a disastrous appearance. Most important Dresden player was M. Zubík. D. Bontà was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
