Due to an all-day shower, 12000 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Red Bull Arena. Xavier Giménez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gregor Kapušin and Iman Eskandari Nasab. RBL decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players took the field: Jever - Darwin, Wahn, Hellermann, Schmücker - Legien, Fey, Peitzsch, Lips - Kalitsch, Gstaltner.

Borngang had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Heimstad - Molema, Fournier, Buonanno - Reisenbüchler, Guillaume, Urra, van den Akker, Ramunno - Sørensen, Lüder.

6 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but O. Reisenbüchler, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Borngang's J. Molema after 13 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. After 32 minutes, Borngang's J. van den Akker burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. RBL's W. Lips had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 38 minutes having been played. S. Kalser was the replacement. 38 minutes into the game, Borngang worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. After 40 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed H. Sørensen to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3. Speedy A. Legien tried one of his patented rushes 41 minutes into the game, but M. Buonanno was just as fast and averted the attack. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Borngang claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 83 percent.

J. van den Akker received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 48 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Borngang fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Borngang lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. The home crowd was not impressed when C. Guillaume came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 54 minutes. Borngang were now up 0 - 5. After 58 minutes Borngang's M. Buonanno contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. With 60 minutes played, Borngang put themselves up 0 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was M. Lüder. Some fine movement on the left led to a Borngang goal after 63 minutes, making it 0 - 7. M. Lüder was noted down as the scorer. After 67 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for H. Sørensen who increased Borngang's lead to 0 - 8. Borngang had most of the ball, with 85 percent of possession.

The most dominating RBL player was without a doubt S. Kalser. B. Jever turned in a dismal performance, however. Borngang's top performer was clearly O. Reisenbüchler. However, S. Heimstad made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 8.
