previous 4/4 next 2/4  Berlin 1 - 1 EK 78 (384347130)

Clear skies welcomed the 43455 spectators who had made their way to Lord Henry Wotton Park. José Braga was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Knut Markhus and Toni Kanthen. All of Berlin was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. Berlin started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Kanner - Pozzoli, Marzana, Worch - Dejagah, 健興 (Jianxing), Oderda, Gülseren, Mancel - Solleveld, Söhnges.

EK 78 tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Pazgan - Emmerke, Kiệt, Delobel - Tarruella, Harms, Kim, Buceta, Bushi - Corigliano, Claesson.

13 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Berlin to take the lead after a good cross from the right found C. Oderda alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. The corner kick from G. Corigliano was powerfully met by the head of T. Claesson to make the score 0 - 1. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Berlin, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 47 minutes, Berlin did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, C. Oderda was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 1. Many thought G. Gülseren ought to have been awarded a penalty 51 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around E. Pazgan after a determined run through the middle. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when T. Claesson was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 58 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! The referee showed EK 78's A. Harms the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. C. Oderda of Berlin had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. B. Gietaria came in to finish the match. 83 minutes into the game, A. Harms had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. Berlin claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

I. Solleveld performed admirably for Berlin. B. Gietaria was a disappointment, however. EK 78's best player was A. Harms. However, J. Kim made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 1.
